Tennessee (November 13, 2017) – Over the weekend, Republican Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander distanced themselves from their party’s nominee for US Senate in Alabama, Roy Moore, who has been accused of inappropriate sexual conduct with a 14-year old girl.

Alexander said Moore should withdraw his candidacy if the accusations were true. Corker took it a step further, saying on Twitter:
“I’m sorry, but even before these reports surfaced, Roy Moore’s nomination was a bridge too far.”

“We’ve known Roy Moore was an extremist candidate from the beginning, but these new accusations are horrifying. Thanks to both Tennessee Senators Alexander and Corker for speaking out to protect our country from this man. Marsha Blackburn and Stephen Fincher are running for the US Senate and they can’t be on the sidelines here. They must immediately denounce Roy Moore,” said Mary Mancini, Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party.
