Tennessee (February 15, 2018) –  Following the New York Times story about Rep. Diane Black’s actions to trade protections for clean air for campaign funds, Mary Mancini, Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party released the following statement:

“Every Tennessean needs to know the air they breathe is safe and clean. It is extremely disturbing that Rep. Black would put families at higher risk of lung cancer and asthma in exchange for campaign contributions. Unfortunately, this is not new for Rep. Black. She has a history of this kind of ‘pay to play’ behavior going back to her time in the state legislature when she steered millions of dollars in government contracts to her husband’s company. This is just another example of Rep. Black abusing the trust of her constituents and using her elected position to benefit herself.”
