Shrugging off campaign finance and ethics laws is a disgrace coming from an elected official, said Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Gray Sasser.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that Donald Cochron of Cheatham County filed a complaint with the Tennessee Ethics Commission citing that House GOP leader Rep. Jason Mumpower (R-Bristol) violated campaign disclosure laws. According to news reports, Rep. Mumpower shirked his responsibility and offered no explanations for his apparent violations.
“GOP leader Mumpower claims this is about campaign strategy, but I believe this is about following the laws you swore to uphold as an elected official,” Sasser continued
“Let’s clear the air, Rep. Mumpower. You don’t need to explain your campaign strategy, but you do need to explain why you can’t follow the law,” Sasser concluded.
