Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Chip Forrester issued the following statement in praise of the fundraising of State Sen. Roy Herron in the period since he entered the campaign for the 8th Congressional District:

“In just three weeks, Sen. Herron has leaped ahead of the farmer from Frog Jump. Mr. Fincher and his Washington buddies couldn’t scrounge up in three months what Sen. Herron and Tennesseans raised in about three weeks.”

“The fact that he could out-raise his opponent in such a short time, even during the busy holiday season, speaks to Sen. Herron’s deep roots in the 8th Congressional District and the enthusiasm that his candidacy has generated.”

In terms of donations for the quarter, Sen. Herron with $425,000 led Fincher with $320,000. Even though Sen. Herron has been raising money less than a fourth of the time that Fincher has, Herron leads in overall funds accumulated with $675,000 compared to Fincher’s $620,000.
