5th District Delegation

This past Saturday, Democrats from across the state gathered to participate in the District Delegation Convention to choose their representatives to the 2012 DNC Convention in Charlotte, NC, where we will once again nominate President Barack Obama to be the Democratic nominee for our party.

After the votes were all counted, we’ve ended up with one of the most diverse delegations ever!

In District 5, Democrats chose the first Latino ever to be selected on the district level in Tennessee, Ivan Cerda, a young and enthusiastic Democrat from Nashville.

In District 7, Democrats selected Credo Amouzouvik, an African immigrant and combat-wounded Iraq war veteran who is not only representing the 7th District at the DNC Convention, but will also be representing the district as the Democratic nominee to take on Marsha Blackburn’s reckless policies and indifference to the needs of her district.

These are just a couple examples out of many excellent delegates, some new (14 are 34 yrs old or younger) and some who have a proud tradition of representing their districts at the Democratic National Convention.

Here is the list of all delegates elected from the convention.
