State Senator Voted For Budget that Cut Millions from Megasite

Brownsville, Tenn.—Delores Gresham likes to tout her plan for job creation in advertisements and mailings, but when she actually has a chance to vote on job creation, she chooses her party over her West Tennessee constituents.

“Delores Gresham is the ultimate politician: saying one thing to constituents at home, and then voting according to her party bosses in Nashville,” said Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester. “Gresham said that she was in favor of the megasite in Haywood County, but when Republican leadership voted to cut the funding, Gresham left the people of her district holding the bag.”

Gresham voted in favor of HB3835, the budget that cut nearly $12 million from the proposed megasite in Haywood County. A megasite is a large industrial area that is suitable for manufacturing and related industry. This project has been described as one of the largest potential job creators in Tennessee and was heavily pushed by city, county and state leaders.

“Delores Gresham continues to show that she will do what is best for her, not for her constituents,” said Forrester. “Tennesseans rely on their representatives and senators to foster an environment to create jobs in their districts, not to curry favor with leadership. It is time for Delores Gresham to tell the voters of her district why she turned her back on them, and the voters to tell Gresham her time is up.”
