Our Party
Today Tennessee Democrats are fighting to hold back the influence of special interests while we work to restore opportunity for all Tennesseans and rebuild the middle class.
State Executive Committee
The State Executive Committee is the governing body of the Tennessee Democratic Party. The 72-member committee is comprised of a man and woman elected from each of Tennessee’s 33 State Senate districts. Committee members, who serve four year terms, elect the Party Chair and Tennessee’s delegation to the Democratic National Committee. Most importantly, Executive Committee members promote the election of Party candidates with technical and financial support and voter mobilization; and work with state and local party organizations, elected officials, candidates and constituencies to respond to the needs and views of the Democratic electorate and the state.
Party Bylaws
In accomplishing the objectives of promoting the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party and assisting in the election of Democratic nominees, the State Executive Committee is granted the power and responsibilities enumerated in our Party Bylaws.
