Tennesseans deserve an open and honest public conversation

August 30, 2018 (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) – After subsequent revelations that Republicans and the Koch brothers’ group Americans for Prosperity are behind false and misleading advertisements, Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Mary Mancini released the following statement:

“OK, we get it. Republicans don’t want to follow the rules,” Mancini said. “The week after Donald Trump’s cronies were convicted, pled guilty, or asked for immunity from prosecution, the Tennessee Republican Party failed to disclose they were paying for deceitful Google ads and a dark-money group funded by the Republican billionaire Koch brothers straight-up lied about Gov. Bredesen’s record. Democrats know that the truth matters to Tennesseans. We also know that education, healthcare, and the economy are not working for everyone. So while Republicans play games, we’ll focus on issues that matter to Tennesseans: solving the opioid crisis, expanding access to healthcare, improving education, and ensuring hardworking Tennesseans don’t have to work 2-3 jobs just to put food on the table.”

Background:

With 68 days left until Election Day, Tennesseans deserve an open and honest public conversation about the candidates and their plans if elected.
