DNC Announces Tennessee As Grant Recipient
Today the Democratic National Committee announced the Tennessee Democratic Party as a recipient of a grant from the State Party Innovation Fund (SPIF), a first-of-its-kind, competitive grant program that incentivizes early organizing and other initiatives through state parties. The Tennessee Democratic Party will receive $70,000, which will go towards the “TN Rising” program to support the historically robust class of candidates across the state in 2018 and beyond.
“Tennessee Democrats have been working tirelessly to organize in every community, and recruit great candidates that embody the values of our party,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “With this grant, we’re supporting Tennessee Democratic candidates by making sure they have the tools they need to win up and down the ballot races this November. The DNC is proud to partner with the Tennessee Democratic Party through this grant to expand our engagement in every single ZIP code in Tennessee.”
“The Tennessee Democratic Party is committed to achieving a baseline of campaign competency in every race where we’re competing across the state. This SPIF grant shows that the DNC is committed to ensuring we in Tennessee have the resources necessary to running exceptional campaigns, and we have seen investments pay off in places like Virginia,” said Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Mary Mancini. “As Democrats, we know it’s critical to compete in every election and to achieve that, we need well-resourced campaigns with candidates who can win in competitive elections across Tennessee as we fight for a brighter future for the Volunteer State. I want to thank Chair Perez and the DNC leadership for granting this SPIF award and making this goal possible.”
In addition to SPIF, through the DNC’s Every ZIP Code Counts program, state parties have consistently been receiving $10,000 a month since October 2017, which is a 33% increase over the base funding levels from 2016 and a 100% increase over 2015, and is based on state-specific strategic plans.
