TNDP CHAIR MARY MANCINI ISSUED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION NIGHT FOUR

“It’s the eve of the 57th Anniversary of the March on Washington, and as Democrats commemorate by fighting towards a more just and equitable America, Donald Trump will spend his time on national television shrouding his failed leadership and chaotic presidency behind a veil of divisive and unhinged rants.

Americans are scared and in pain and need a real leader. And right now, amid a once-in-a-generation racial reckoning and an unprecedented economic and health disaster, Donald Trump is just not up to the task, ignoring the dual economic-health collapse, opting to downplay the threat of coronavirus, and firing tear-gas and rubber bullets at peaceful protesters just trying to make their voices heard.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have the experience necessary to bring this country together to solve our interlocking crises. Their steady, unifying, experienced leadership is what we need to get control of this virus, listen to Black voices in pain, restore trust between police and communities, and build the country back better than before, for all of us.

Fifty-seven years after the March on Washington, the message is the same, we need to restore the Soul of America. And we need to vote.” –Mary Mancini, Chair, Tennessee Democratic Party
