NASHVILLE – This week, the U.S. Senate will vote on whether to extend the critical enhanced ACA tax credits that nearly 600,000 Tennesseans rely on. If Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty do not vote to extend these credits, Tennesseans will see their health care premiums double or triple.
Tennesseans are already facing a health care crisis because of Donald Trump and his Republican allies. 68,000 Tennesseans will lose their health insurance thanks to Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. In stark contrast, Tennessee Democrats have been unwavering in their commitment to fighting back to ensure every Tennessean has access to quality and affordable health care.
Ahead of the Senate vote on ACA tax credits, Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Rachel Campbell released the following statement:
“Trump and Republicans are more focused on gilded ballrooms and bankrolling billionaires than stopping Tennesseans’ health care costs from skyrocketing. Democrats stand ready to lower costs and protect health care for each and every Tennessee family
Tennessee families are already facing a health care crisis because of Donald Trump and Republicans. If Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty vote against extending critical health care credits this week, this crisis will get far worse. 600,000 Tennesseans who are already struggling with skyrocketing gas, grocery, and housing costs, are now at risk of their health care premiums doubling or tripling if enhanced ACA tax credits expire. This is a matter of life and death, which is why it’s time Tennessee Republicans choose their constituents over Donald Trump.”
