NASHVILLE – One year ago, Tennessee Republicans and Donald Trump chose to cruelly gut healthcare and kick millions of Americans off food assistance with their so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill”, all to help pay for tax giveaways for their big donors, massive corporations, and the ultra-wealthy. While Tennessee Republicans celebrate their “One Big Beautiful Bill,” its harm to working families couldn’t be more clear: Over four million people have lost their food assistance, and over eight million Americans have lost healthcare coverage in the year since Trump and his extremists passed the largest healthcare cut in history. That includes at least 104,401 Tennesseans losing their health insurance and 99,979 Tennesseans being kicked off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that helps parents feed their children. These callous cuts are happening as rural hospitals face severe financial strain and healthcare premiums, grocery prices, and inflation continue to rise.
