Hardaway was appointed earlier this year to complete the term of his late father, State Rep. G.A. Hardaway, Sr., representing House District 93.
NASHVILLE — Today, State Representative TJ Hardaway announced that he will not continue his write-in campaign to remain in the Tennessee House of Representatives following his appointment by the Shelby County Commission earlier this year to complete the term of his late father, State Representative G.A. Hardaway, Sr., a dedicated public servant and steadfast advocate for the people of House District 93.
Statement from Rachel Campbell, Chairwoman of the Tennessee Democratic Party:
“State Representative TJ Hardaway stepped up to serve when House District 93 needed him most. He stepped into a difficult moment, carried forward his father’s legacy, and showed up for the people of his district. We are grateful for the time, commitment, and service he has given to his community, and we will be rooting for him in his next chapter. The Tennessee Democratic Party looks forward to supporting the Democrat who earns the trust of voters and is ready to serve the people of House District 93.”
Statement from State Representative TJ Hardaway:
“Serving the people my father loved and represented for so many years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Stepping into this arena allowed me to understand the true weight of walking in my father’s shoes. Every day that I have served in this seat has allowed me to keep his memory alive while developing an even deeper understanding of what it means to serve people. That experience taught me something that I will carry with me forever: leadership is not about holding a title. It is about being prepared to serve when your community needs you.”
